Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup 1 stick salted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Slowly add this to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips (and any optional add-ins).
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden.
  • Let the cookies cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a rack to cool completely.

Notes

If you’re sensitive to dairy, consider using a plant-based butter. For a crunchier version, bake a minute or two longer.
