Ingredients
  

  • All-Purpose Flour: 2 cups
  • Cold Unsalted Butter: 1 cup
  • Granulated Sugar: ½ cup
  • Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: ½ teaspoon
  • Milk: ¼ cup

Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or ¼ cup chopped nuts

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut cold butter into the flour mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.
  • Add milk and stir gently to form a dough; do not overmix.
  • Chill dough for 15–20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Roll dough into a rectangle, fold in thirds, rotate, and fold again.
  • Roll to ½-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
  • Chill cut dough for 10 more minutes, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden.

Notes

You can easily customize with chocolate, nuts, or jam to suit your taste. Keep the dough cold to ensure that signature layered texture.
